Project Manager M&A & Strategy, Transport Solutions Gothenburg
417 05 Gothenburg
Axel Johnson International is now looking for a Project Manager M&A & Strategy for the Transport Solutions business area, based in Gothenburg. Transport Solutions generates approximately SEK 3 billion in revenue, operates in 12 countries, and consists of around 20 companies within load securing, vehicle components, and marine solutions. Acquisitions are a central part of the business strategy, and the ambition is to carry out a large number of international acquisitions in the coming years.
The role suits you who currently work within auditing, business controlling, M&A analysis, or Transaction Services and want to broaden your competence within acquisitions, strategy, and project management. Here, you will have the opportunity to work with the entire acquisition process—from analysis and screening to due diligence, preparing board materials, and working with integration—while also gaining insight into management and strategic work at an international level.
You will report directly to the Business Area Manager and work closely with the management team in Gothenburg as well as Axel Johnson International’s central M&A function in Stockholm.
Responsibilities
In the role of Project Manager M&A & Strategy, you will:
- Lead and coordinate acquisition processes from company identification to completed acquisition and integration
- Conduct financial analyses, company valuations, and basic financial due diligence
- Prepare decision-making materials, investment reports, and board documentation
- Manage and coordinate documentation such as NDAs, LOIs, SPAs, and other contractual processes
- Collaborate with external advisors within legal, financial, commercial, and sustainability-related due diligence
- Identify and analyze potential acquisition targets, markets, and competitors internationally
- Participate in strategic work and business development initiatives for Transport Solutions and its business units
- Support management and board work and, when needed, participate in board meetings of subsidiaries
- Contribute to the development of ways of working, processes, and tools that strengthen acquisition activities
The position involves international travel, typically 2–3 days every other week, and at times more intensively.
Who are you?
We would like you to have a Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent academic education, and a few years of experience from auditing, controlling, transaction services, or M&A-related work. You have built a strong financial foundation and are now eager to further develop in a business-oriented role where analysis is combined with project management, strategy, and international acquisitions. You need a solid understanding of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and financial analysis, as well as experience in preparing and presenting reports and decision-making materials. Experience with due diligence processes is considered a merit. Furthermore, you should have very good skills in Excel and PowerPoint and be fluent in Swedish and English.
As a person, you are business-oriented and curious about companies and industrial operations, structured, and capable of driving multiple parallel projects forward. You will have numerous external contacts with company management, owners, etc., so strong communication skills are important. You should be unpretentious and thrive working in a smaller team.
What we offer you
Axel Johnson International offers a unique opportunity to develop within M&A, strategy, and business development in an international industrial group with long-term ownership and strong growth ambitions. You will be part of a dedicated team in Gothenburg, where an entrepreneurial spirit, collaboration, and short decision-making paths characterize everyday work. At the same time, you gain access to the resources, network, and development opportunities of a global group. The position is based at Transport Solutions’ office at Vasaplatsen in Gothenburg.
