Axel Johnson International strengthens fluid handling solutions offering in New Zealand

Brown Brothers Engineers New Zealand, a company within Axel Johnson International’s business group Fluid Handling Solutions, AxFlow, strengthens its offering through the acquisition of Galbraith Engineering, a leading fire pump specialist in New Zealand.

“The addition of Galbraith Engineering is fully aligned with our group strategy of geographical expansion and increased service offering in pumps and the fire protection business,” says Ole Weiner, CEO, AxFlow Holding.

Galbraith Engineering is based in Christchurch and has been active for the past 30 years in the design and manufacture of diesel and electric fire-pump units. The company is recognized as New Zealand’s market leader in fire protection systems and is involved in building pump sets for irrigation, snow making and frost fighting. They also supply consultancy and system design, pump commissioning, pump performance testing, pipe fabrication and maintenance and repair.

“There is a continuous demand for fire pumps in the commercial world of warehousing, fuel terminals, oil and gas, and a wide range of industrial sectors. Having Galbraith Engineering in the group will allow us to consolidate the fire business in the Oceania region and partner with Kelair Pumps for high-end applications,” says John Inkster, Managing Director of Brown Brothers Engineers Group and continues: “As one large group, we will be well-positioned to continuously take market shares in Oceania while strengthening our strong supplier relationships and attract the best talents.”

“We have been in the business for 28 years and we’ve come to the point where we were looking for a strategic partner that could take us to the next level. We’ve known Brown Brothers New Zealand for many years now and we see them as a like-minded organization with an eye for future growth,” says Steve Galbraith, General Manager and part-owner of Galbraith Engineering.
