Axel Johnson International's subsidiary Sverull acquires majority shareholding in EMC Elmotorcentralen
Sverull ElektroDynamo AB, part of Axel Johnson International's business area Power Transmission Solutions, strengthens its position in Skellefteå through the acquisition of the majority shareholding in EMC Elmotorcentralen. As of January 2, 2023, EMC will operate as a subsidiary of Sverull.
EMC was founded in Skellefteå in 1948 and specializes in sales and repair of electromechanical equipment, with a focus on remanufacturing and rewinding of motors. EMC collaborates with market-leading suppliers such as ABB, VEM, Busck and Xylem. The clientele is concentrated in the Skellefteå region and with its long experience in the industry, EMC has a good relationship with their customers and holds a strong market position in the region.
"Sverull and EMC both work with similar customers and discussions about a transaction have been ongoing over the past year. We see that our and Sverull's way of working is very similar, which has been of great importance in this deal. The consolidation of the five Australian lifting companies that were acquired last year will make CERTEX Lifting into one of the largest lifting equipment and service companies in Australia.

Axel Johnson International’s business group Power Transmission Solutions enters the Italian market by acquiring a majority stake in power transmission group GMM.
GMM was founded in 1973 by Attilio Milani, and has its head office in Modena, Italy, with an American branch GMM USA, located in Clarksville, Tennessee. The company has a broad product offering within bearings, power transmissions, motors, and gears, with an extensive service offering in condition monitoring and industrial remanufacturing performed by the group’s subsidiaries Bbm and E. Malaguti. GMM has most of its customers in the Italian OEM and MRO market in a wide range of industries, where many are related to the ceramic tile sector. Another record year for Axel Johnson International
2021 was an eventful and challenging year for the entire global industry, impacted by supply-chain issues and price inflation. Still, Axel Johnson International managed to achieve all-time high sales and profit in 2021.
During the year, 15 companies were acquired, complementing the group with new offerings, expertise and market presence. Despite challenges in the global industry with supply-chain issues and price inflation, the group managed to set all-time high sales and profit in 2021.
"The complex situation has naturally put enormous pressure on our companies which they have handled impressively, resulting in recorded sales at around 13 billion SEK.We have grown significantly more than the underlying market in all our business groups for many years now and are rewarded with continued profitable growth. Axel Johnson International increases its ambitions in sustainability and signs a sustainability-linked loan of 55 million euro with Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK). The loan is linked to several sustainability-related goals with focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy.
SEK provides sustainability-linked loans to Swedish export companies on the condition that the linked sustainability goals are relevant to the industry in which the company operates, and that the goals are ambitious.
“Providing sustainability-linked loans is a way for us to direct financing towards tangible and measurable goals while offering a more favourable interest rate for our clients. It’s a win-win for all parties, especially for the climate,” says Jens Hedar, Head of Client Relationship Management at Swedish Export Credit Corporation.
Axel Johnson International’s linked sustainability KPIs relate to energy efficiency in own operations and internal transports within the group, which correspond to Scope 1 and 2 in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Founded in 1923, Ateliers Ehrismann SA is a Geneva-based company active in the service of electric motors, pumps and other electrical and mechanical machinery. Ateliers Ehrismann SA also supplies frequency converters and is experienced in the complete manufacture of mechanical spare parts and electromechanical prototypes. The company is ATEX certified for the repair of electric motors and hold a permanent stock of electric motors, frequency converters and spare parts for complete pump overhauls.

Transmissioner AB acquired the operations of Reva Drivteknik AB, effective June 15th. Reva is a Swedish distributor of industrial clutches and brakes with magnetic technology, serving customers in Sweden and parts of Norway.
Reva is a small distributor of transmission products such as clutches and brakes with magnetic technology. Its product portfolio includes components for operation, control and safety in applications like conveyors, doors, printing machines, valves and medical equipment. The company has built a strong relationship with its main supplier since 1991, German KEB Brinkmann. Up to this point, Reva is operating from Malmö in the southern part of Sweden, but its operations will move into Jens S. Transmissioner in Norrköping. Axel Johnson International has entered into an agreement to acquire the majority of the shares in Caldan Conveyor A/S. As a niche supplier within industrial automation, Caldan has a leading position in the European market, 130 employees and a long history of profitable growth.
Shaped into its current form in 1994 by the two brothers Niels and Jens Calundan, Caldan has grown significantly and is today one of the market leaders in its niche in Europe and a strong player in the Asian and North American markets. The acquisition of Caldan is well aligned with Axel Johnson International’s long-term strategy to provide complete technical solutions for a variety of industrial customers. Hoyer Transmissions is a leading Danish distributor of mechanical transmission products.

The company mainly serves the Scandinavian and German markets. As a leading Danish distributor, Hoyer Transmissions has a well-known supplier base and offers a wide product portfolio. Founded in 1993, TPB is a Czech local authorized SKF distributor of bearings, seals, couplings and linear products, specialized in the bearing aftermarket for customers in a broad range of industries. The company has its headquarters in Mladá Boleslav and a second branch in Česká Lípa, both located in the northern region of Czech Republic.
